Projection mapping video art
For the royal visit to the Caribbean part of the Netherlands, Thijs & Nick Albers created an interactive projection-mapping experience for the opening ceremony of a photo exhibition on the island of Bonaire.
Our sequence of video art was triggered by the King Willem-Alexandra taking a picture of Queen Máxima. This picture taken emerged on a massive exhibition wall (54 ft. / 16.5 m), marking the start of announcing the winners of the “Dare to share” photo competition.
The goal of the competition was to visually connect the three islands of Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Statia by having the contestants share their favorite places of their home. The printed photos hanging on the wall interacted with a beamed visual spectacle, telling the story behind the exhibition and highlighting the winners.
*Due to restrictions of filming the monarchs this video shows a 1:10 scale model of the event space on Bonaire.
